The powerful script for this show was written by local playwright, author and journalist Bill DeYoung. I worked with him previously on stage, and he approached me personally about playing John Lerro in his one-man show in 2020.
This was planned at the beginning of things starting to open up again, so we were cautious and scheduled three performances. By opening week, all 3 shows had sold out. And I'm proud to say that all 3 shows brought standing ovations!
This very successful show got a lot of news coverage, I gave several interviews leading up to the performances.
Re-Mounted!
The show was re-mounted a year later, in February 2022, at Studio Grand Central. This time, we had 12 performances, and reached an almost entirely different audience!
Roxanne Fay was not available during the time period that we would be able to rehearse and perform, so this time Bill took on the role of Director himself, and we made some minor changes to the script and the performance of it.
